Article writing on the net

Writing articles should be about something you know and can talk about, that is why if you own a website, you probably are knowledgeable about the topics and themes of your websites. When writing your articles, you will not have a hard time because you already know the material well. Making your articles creative and interesting is the important part.

To ensure that your articles get read and enjoyed, these read hot tips should be followed to make your articles readable and interesting.

a) Using short paragraphs. When the paragraphs are very long, the words get jumbled in the mind of the reader just looking at it It can get quite confusing and too much of a hard work to read. The reader will just quickly disregard the paragraph and move on to much easier reading articles that are good to look at as well as read. Paragraphs can be a single sentence, sometimes even a single word!

b) Using bullets or numbers to stress points. As each point is stressed out, numbers and bullets can quickly make the point easy to remember and digest. As each point, tip, guide or method is started with a bullet or point, readers will know that this is where the tips start and getting stressed. Format you bullets and numbers with indentations so that your article will not look like a single block of square paragraphs. Add a little bit of flair and pizazz to your articles shape.

c) Using sub headings to divide your paragraphs in the webpage. Doing this will break each point into sections but still would be incorporated into one whole article. It would also be easy for the reader to move on from one point to another; the transition would be smooth and easy. You will never lose your readers attention as well as the point and direction to where the article is pointing.

d) Write a good attention grabbing header or title. If your title can entice a person’s curiosity you are already halfway in getting a person to read your article. Use statements and questions that use keywords people are looking for. Provide titles or headers that describe your articles content but should also be short and concise.

e) Keep their interest from the beginning to the end of the article. From your opening paragraph, use real life situations that can be adopted by the reader. Use good descriptions and metaphors to drive in your point, just don’t over do it. Driving your examples with graphic metaphors and similes would make it easy for them to imagine what you are talking about. Making the experience pleasurable and enjoyable for them.

f) Use figures when possible and not just ordinary and insipid statements. Using specific facts and figures can heighten your article because it makes it authoritative. But do not make it too formal, it should be light and easy in them and flow.

With these red hot article writing tips your articles should make your articles readable and interesting.

Content on Your Website or Blog

If you are looking to improve your rankings on the search engines then consider finding free content to add to your website. Good quality free content can help to optimize your website for search engines. Search engines are becoming more and more particular about site rankings, and looking for viable, real content. A content rich site will have a higher search engine ranking and page rank than one with minimal content. Also, your site will have more appeal to visitors and a better likelihood of providing good advertising revenue if you provide quality information and content.

Add relevant content to your site as it provides your users with interesting information and saves them leaving your site. Ample content will help ensure that your site visitors will stay, browse, and come back again and again. If you use online advertising to bring in site revenue, having plenty of content will encourage your site visitors to spend more time on the site, and increase the likelihood of successful click through advertising on your site. Also, update your content frequently to help your site develop a pattern of regular repeat traffic.

Larger sites provide more instances of keyword rich phrases for visitors to come across whilst browsing than smaller sites. Good keyword saturation is another important search engine optimization tool. When search engines spider sites, they read keywords, and the more your desired keywords appear in your site, the better your overall search engine rankings. Think carefully about your desired keywords and work your site to optimize those words. While keyword rich text is a helpful search engine optimization tool, it is also critical that you make your content interesting, readable, and useful to your site visitors.

There are plenty of sites which offer free to re-use content such as Ezine articles and Article Alley. When searching out content for your site, look carefully at any requirements for use, and be certain that your site meets those requirements. Copyright infringement is a significant issue in the online community, and designing your site to respect international copyrights is critical. Content is free to use provided a link back is offered in return on many sites, and these sites are an excellent resource for any web site owner. Do read the articles you choose to add to your site, and see that they meet your needs, both in terms of content and keywords.

Alternatively you might add an RSS feed reader to your site and utilise a RSS feed. An RSS feed, which stands for “really simple syndication” or “rich site summary”, depending upon the version allows you to publish up to date new information easily. This automated technology can make adding fresh new content to your site an effortless process. A number of web based newsreader interfaces can be integrated into your site to allow your visitors easy access to new and up to date content on a regular basis.

Provided the content you add closely matches the theme of your page then you should see a benefit. Avoid adding content that is not relevant to your site, and consider choosing content for your site that matches your desired keywords for ideal search engine optimization. Always consider the value of the content to your customers and visitors rather than adding for the sake of it. A site that appeals to a human visitor, offers ample and useful content, and is a product of thought and hard work will appeal to search engines as well. Your efforts will be rewarded with a good search engine ranking and good publicity for your new site.

Article submission

Article submission is a great way to do propaganda about your business, your blog, your website, or yourself too.

If you are writing about your business or your blog a good authentic article fetches you a great number of traffic.

Many search engines crawl and hook onto the keyword and keyword phrases of a site to put it in their results list. If your content contains a good number of keywords and keywords phrases, your site gets a higher position in the search engine listings. Ofcourse, this does not mean that you keep stuffing the article with key words and phrases just about unnecessary.

Content for certain subjects need in depth knowledge. This can be done with research. Today research is just a click away in most of the cases. If you are bent on getting traffic to your site and you do not have the time to write the articles then you can take the help of ghost writers.

Keep in mind to not plagiarize. Copy and merely pasting of part or whole of the content is known as plagiarizing. This is definitely not advised. If you don’t have the time or the right resources then wait. There is absolutely no need to hurry. Content is the key to getting the reader tuned into your article and retaining the reader too. Almost all of the time a plagiarized article submitted will never be released. Add to it if you have an account with that particular website then a plagiarized article can lead to suspension of your account. So be very careful.

Freelance writing requires more trafficking to your own blog too!

One important topic for blog owners is how to increase traffic, which is easier than it seems, once you know how. In this article, we cover 7 specific methods of increasing traffic to your blog.

Tip #1: Sign up for pinging services
It seems pretty obvious, but many bloggers, even those who are more experienced, don’t sign up for pinging services. If you’re new to blogging, pinging means that when your blog is updated, a “ping” is sent out by the service to let pinging sites know that your blog has been updated. People who are visiting sites with pinging services will then see your blog flash across the side of the screen as “newly updated.” Pinging services include Yahoo’s blogs, weblogs.com, Google Blog search and ZingFast.

Tip #2: Sign up for Technorati
If you go to technorati.com, you’ll see an option on the left side of the screen to “Claim Your Blog.” Doing so allows you to get updated link counts, add your photo or branding to Technorati and see your Technorati link. Having your blog claimed on Technorati helps to increase traffic because the millions of people who go to that site will have a chance to see your blog listed there.

Tip #3: Sign up for FeedBurner, an RSS service
FeedBurner basically helps you to promote your blog’s content, and to build and measure your audience.

Tip #4: Bookmark your blogs at places like del.icio.us
You can set up an account and profile at del.icio.us. From there, you can add links to your blog, as well as excerpts. When a user visits your profile on del.icio.us, they will see a link to your blog and excerpts. There are other social bookmarking sites that you can use in much the same way. All of these social bookmarking sites can help you increase traffic.

Tip #5: Post comments at other blogs
Here, you should visit similar blogs to your own, post legitimate comments and then sign your name(along with a link to your blog). This way, people know you aren’t there just to promote your site—you’re there to post a good piece of feedback and also say where you’re from.

Tip #6: Ask owners of other blogs to post a link to yours
Find other blogs that are similar to yours. If they seem to be decently popular (if they have a good amount of comments for each post), contact the owner of the blog and ask if they will add a link to your blog. Offering to link back to their blog is a way to sweeten the offer. Reciprocal linking helps to increase traffic.

Tip #7: Use keywords in your blog
Like regular Web pages, having a good keyword density on a blog is a terrific way of getting search engine spiders to notice your page. (FYI: Search engine spiders are programs from search engines that browse sites and report back their findings to the search engine database, which then lists that site. The more keywords on your site, the more likely it is for a search engine spider to pay a visit)

If your average blog posting is around 200 words, use 2-6 keywords per blog post. This creates a keyword density of between 1 and 3 percent, a respectable number. Remember that you don’t want to use too many keywords, as that will make your blog look bad. Also be sure that the keywords used are relevant to your blog. Before even making a blog posting, decide what the post will be about and then select a keyword or two to use in your post. This will help to increase your traffic.

Submit flawless, polished documents

You need to submit flawless, polished documents, but the demands on your time are great and lead to typos and regular “oops” moments. The solution? Create a revision system and stick to it. Here’s a sample.

1. Start Beforehand.

The secret to consistently catching your mistakes is to know exactly what those mistakes are. Begin by setting aside a document, Blackberry memo screen or even a simple notebook in which to note recurring mistakes. Doing this gives you a self check list, which we’ll revisit in a moment.

2. Use Technology.

Immediately after you finish a document, run a simple grammar and spell check. I’m not advocating a complete dependence on these methods by any means, but use them to catch the most glaring of mistakes and typos.

Walk Away. Now, I know (trust me, I know) that you might not feel that you can afford the time to walk away.

But it’s necessary. In a pinch, you can start working on your next project, but in reality it is best to clear the air for a bit.

3. Use Your List.

Remember the list you’ve been making for the past couple months [mentioned in point: Start beforehand]? The one we referenced in step #1? Now is the time to get it out and start checking. I’ve even known some writer to format their list with check boxes, make multiple copies, and keep a cache of them ready to go.

4. Do a Read Aloud.

You’ll want to either read aloud yourself, or use software designed to read your words back to you.

5. Get a Second Opinion.

I like to have an up and coming proofreader on retainer to provide my second set of eyes, but in a pinch, a spouse or cube mate works just as well.
6. Print It Out. My last step is always a final read over with a hard copy. In fact, I often change rooms in order to complete my last revision. By mixing it up and getting out of your comfort zone, you can jog your brain enough to find that one last elusive little typo.

That’s it. Of course not every system is right for every review writer. Find what works for you, and stick to it!

Top 6 Rules for Networking

1. Include Everyone You Know on Your Network

When it comes to online networking everyone you know can be a useful contact. While someone may not be directly involved in your field, he or she may know another person who is.

2. Be Willing to Ask for Help

In order to get help you have to ask for it. Don't be shy. If you need advice call someone on your network.

3. Be Willing to Give Help

Your network doesn't exist only for your benefit. You should be willing to offer your help to others as well. So, if someone on your network asks you to speak to his nephew about your job, you must be willing to do it. If you hear news that someone on your network can benefit from take the time to share it.

4. Don't Use Your Network for Only Job Hunting

Many people have the misconception that networking is only for job hunting. They attempt to utilize it only when looking for work. Well, guess what? If you only get in touch with your contacts when you are looking for work, your network may dry up. Not only that — your contacts may come to know you as "that person who's always looking for a job."

5. Keep in Touch With Your Network Contacts

Check in with your contacts every now and then. Find out what they're up to and let them know what is happening with your career. It will be much easier to track someone down after not talking to them for a couple of months than it will be after being out of touch for a year or longer.

6. Thank Your Contacts for Their Help

When one of your contacts gives you advice or provides you with a job lead don't forget to send her a thank you note. You can use email to do this or leave a comment on their blog.

Tips for Dealing With Your Editor

Despite the fact that you may spend 4-14 hours per day typing away in isolation, writers don’t live in a vacuum all the time. Once you break into the freelance writing world, one of your main contacts is likely to be editors. These are the people that dole out online assignments, accept finished work and likely provide direction. It is in your best interest to pro actively manage the writer-editor relationship. Here’s some simple ways to make sure you’re doing your part.

Take Responsibility.

Despite the editor’s role in your writing, the writing is still your job. Turn in the most flawless work you can. Seek answers to your own questions. Find and use the best research and resources available to you. In this way the editor is like your boss: make their job as easy as possible, and they’re likely to return the favor.

Understand Where They’re Coming From.
It is the editor’s job to protect the final product, whether that product be a magazine, a website or a company’s marketing materials. The editor isn’t out to get you- he/she is out to produce the most perfect final product possible. Understanding the editor’s job will go a long way toward making your job more pleasant. Accept their feedback, make the revisions and get on with your life. No one wins a power struggle!

Communicate. . .And Do It Well.
This is probably the number one thing a writer can do toward making an editor-writer relationship work. Understand the editor’s needs, the company’s needs and the product you are providing. Procure all the information you need to do your job well. Ask questions, listen for answers, and take direction well. These are all part and parcel of communicating with your managing editor.

Incorporating these simple strategies into your relationships will help you to work well with your editor, resulting in a positive experience for both of you.

Guiding Principles for Blogging it big and good

Be sincere

* Focus on the individuals
* Not all about you
* Be part of the community
* Everyone’s a peer

Strategy and Vision

Blogs are still just another piece of the corporate communications puzzle (although an increasingly important piece), so spending some quality time thinking about what you want to achieve with your overall communication strategy and how blogging fits into that strategy is a good place for companies to start. You don’t want to use your blog to just pimp your products or talk about press releases. A blog can be used for so much more. Think about the areas where you want to lead the industry and the topics that you want people to think about when they think of your company. Use your blog to become a thought leader in the industry by sharing your expertise on those broad topics that are important and relevant to your company.

Think about who should be blogging on your corporate blog. It is easy to pick your top 5 executives, and give them access to the blog. In some cases, they might be the perfect people, but they aren’t always the best choice when it comes to accomplishing your goals for the blog. Go back to your discussion about your strategy for the blog and the topics that you want people to think about when they think of your company or your products. Who in your company has expertise in those areas? Do you have someone with great ideas? Are there any evangelists or other employees passionate about those topics? If so, recruit those people to contribute to your blogs. Someone passionate and smart, but outside of the senior management ranks probably has more time to spend on the blog and might just come up with some innovative and interesting ideas.

You should also branch out a little into the realm of unofficial / personal blogs. Encourage your employees to have their own blogs where they talk about their areas of expertise.

Having a personal blog has a number of benefits, including giving us an excuse to learn and research new ideas.

Making it Happen

After the initial excitement wears off, it is easy for companies to neglect the corporate blog. We just forget to blog, and before long, no one has posted in a month (or two or three …) In some companies this isn’t a problem. If you already have a bunch of prolific bloggers neglect may not be an issue, but for the rest of you, and you know who you are, it really helps to have someone “in charge” of the blog. This person isn’t responsible for writing all of the content, but they can responsible for herding and nagging in addition to making sure that some specific strategic topics are being addressed on the blog

The Other Details

Blogroll. While the content of the posts is the most important part of the blog, do not neglect the other little details that can make a difference. Make sure your blog contains a blogroll linking to other bloggers you respect; not to have one is really bad form. Link to the people that you read, the other thought leaders in your industry, and other blogs that your employees write in your blogroll. This goes for your personal / unofficial blogs, too. All blogs should have one, and if you don’t want to put it in a sidebar, you can create a separate page devoted to your blogroll.

Sidebars. Spend some quality time thinking about your sidebars. Add items that make it easy for people to find older content on your blog: search, tag cloud, recent posts, popular posts, etc. Don’t forget to include links back to other key parts of your website including information about products, press releases or other news, and events where people can find you. Include some fun stuff in the sidebar, too (Flickr photos, twitter posts, etc.) Don’t let your sidebars get too cluttered, but do make sure that you include helpful, relevant, and interesting content in them.

Analytics. You will want to know how many people read your blog, and exactly what they are most interested in reading. Make sure that you install some kind of analytics package; for example, Google Analytics is free and easy to embed. This will tell you where your visitors came from and which posts they are reading. You can use this information to determine what people are most interested in. Don’t forget to also pay attention to your RSS feeds for those people seeing your content in RSS readers. Do not use your blogging tool’s default RSS feeds as your primary blog feeds. Always run them through a service that provides more information and statistics about who is reading your blog. Feedburner is a great (and free) tool to get more information about the people subscribing to your feeds.

Hopefully, these tips will help a few people make their corporate blogs even better. Keep in mind that you will make mistakes along the way. Learn from them, keep writing, and continue to make incremental improvements.

Corporate blogging is a complex topic, and there will never be one magic formula that applies to all companies.

Get Freelance Work By Networking

When you think about networking, do you visualize a bunch of people standing around schmoozing, trying to pitch their services to each other while exchanging business cards and “elevator speeches”?

You know, some people actually enjoy that sort of thing. And when they do it right (which is a rare talent), they reap genuine rewards. Rewards such as new clients, joint venture partners, knowledgeable advisers, helpful friends… in other words, mutually beneficial relationships.

But for many of us, the idea of going to a networking event ranks right up there with bathing an angry cat. Even if we think it ought to be done, we’d rather be flea food.

Don’t worry. There’s much more – and less – to networking than you think! You can reap the same wonderful rewards without having to mingle with a bunch of strangers.

Important: With any kind of networking, the key is to build powerful relationships by giving. Give your attention, advice, ideas, suggestions, support, compliments, referrals – and maybe even your business – to others. Give, give, give… then receive more than you can imagine!

There are many ways you can get freelance work by networking, even if you hate schmoozing. Below are four powerful examples.

1. Tell your family and friends about your freelance review writing services.

This seems like a no-brainer, but you’d be amazed at how many people fail to do this.

You don’t have to pitch your services to your family and friends, but you certainly should not be keeping them secret! You’ll have many paid opportunities during normal conversations to mention that you enjoy review writing and even earn a little money doing it for clients. Just plant the seed and eventually it can grow into unexpected business.

And remember, even if your family and friends have no need for a freelance writer, it’s very likely that they know someone who does. For example, maybe your sister’s hair stylist owns the salon and could use some help with her online marketing materials.

Key: Every person has connections to an average of 250 other people. When you decide not to mention your services to cousin Annie and neighbor Tom, you’re missing an opportunity to offer your services to hundreds of people they know!

2. Engage in virtual networking.

You do this online, from the comfort of your home office. Besides the benefits of not having to deal with people face-to-face, virtual networking allows you to create contact lists and join online advertising communities comprised of people from all over the world. Most of these people you would probably never meet in any other way. Your virtual network can grow larger and faster than any form of traditional network.

Are you on someone’s email list? (Of course you are!) When they ask for opinions, give yours. When they raise an issue that’s of interest to you, send them a response about it. If they’re selling something you can benefit from (and it fits your budget), buy it – then give them positive feedback about it.

Key: Become someone they know and enjoy hearing from, rather than just one of the many anonymous names on their mailing list.

Participate in online advertising forums, especially those where your ideal clients hang out. Lurk before you leap so you don’t jump in and accidentally make a fool of yourself (not good for winning clients). Read the posts, get a feel for the ambiance. When you have something worthwhile to contribute, start participating. If the forum rules allow it, include a signature block that has a link to your website. But do NOT sell your services! Give valuable advice freely. The idea is to show your knowledge, expertise and desire to help others.

Key: Eventually the forum members will get to know you, like you and trust you. The next natural step for them is to think of you when they (or people in their network) need the freelance writing services you provide!

3. Show off your talent.

Write, write, write! Submit articles to online article directories, write reports and/or ebooks, create your own website and e-zine – put yourself and your writing skills on display, always including your contact information. When appropriate, offer to provide free special reports or articles for people with whom you’re building connections through your virtual networking activities.

Consider giving free writing workshops through your local Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club or other groups. If you have a job, check into offering “brownbag” (lunchtime) sessions on topics such as “10 Tips for More Effective Business Writing” for your coworkers.

Key: You want to become the obvious person people will think of when they need writing services.

4. Attend seminars.

What types of seminars, workshops, conferences or meetings do your ideal clients attend? Go to those events. For example, if you want to write reviews on website content, attend internet marketing seminars. They are networking goldmines and offer many opportunities to engage in natural conversations with people you want to meet. You don’t have to schmooze or pitch your services. Just be friendly, ask questions, participate in discussions, and be yourself.

Key: You’ll not only learn about the specific issues and topics your target clients are interested in, you’ll build relationships with them at the same time!
